Picture to left is when someone put pom poms in my hands. ;-) At a CSUN luncheon in the name of Dottie....Granny as we all knew her. Pictured is our original cheer outfit on the manikin and of dear Granny decked out with her smile and spirit we will all long remember...
Three cheers for memories and the wonder of college!!! Top picture is of the matador who stands proud in the quad now at CSUN. I had the fun of a special day and private tour of the university that has grown to 38,000 students. Instead of a commuter university it is now an experience where students thoroughly enjoy campus life and the many schools of education.

I so believe in serendipity and it is a part of all that I do and where I go. This picture was a walk in Barcelona, Spain. I discovered the doorstep of the school of Sagrada. Imagine Gaudi & the true creativity. Awesome, unexplainable, surrouding one with amazement..... The top picture is of architecture of housing and buildings that Gaudi created. The bottom picture is the ceiling inside Familia Sagrada...the never ending church that is still being built. Completion now is hoped for by 2026. Whatever...visitors from the world over stand turning in circles not knowing how one could imagine, create so much nor where to look. While speaking in St. Kitts and receiving a welcome beyond belief, I was taken to lunch at a scenic, beautiful and amazing restaurant experience. Thank you Krista for so many opportunities. The splendour of the brilliant colors, the fragrances and the meaning of this gourmet meal! A restaurant named, of all things, Serendipity!! I loved the fresh caught groper and veggies from the garden all arranged artistically and ...so perfect..... This is also the chef that prepares the cuisine for the Queen of England and royalty. I felt like royalty and thank all involved. This picture is a student representing all of my audiences ~ thanking me for coming and sharing. His presentation was touching as was each and every minute on the island.
I got it!!
I finished my speech in the city of Downey and we discovered that Boston Market was in the area. We don't have Boston Market anywhere near us any more. (A favorite place of mine when Dave and I first met. All because ~ He got the "holiday" yummies for me that holiday including creamed spinach and more....) I was so excited to be in the restaurant and about to order when a total stranger came up to us. "Here. A coupon for your dinner." What? That was so amazing. My speech included "paying forward" and the good feelings and serendipity in life. Here it was happening to Dave and I only minutes later. We said thank you and not even knowing what really to say.... It had now happened to me! Dave ran out to the car and we gave my JOYFUL VOLUNTEERING book to this man who introduced himself as Rich and with appreciation we explained the story. His eyes wide open with a genuine smile, "Will you please autography my book for me." A perfect way to begin the holidays! ;-) This rose burst open on a day I was thinking about my Mom. The days have past since we lost her yet the moments are always with me. One particular afternoon I was thinking about her lots and how very much I wished I could share. I do feel blessed with so much. I looked out our kitchen window to my garden as this rose was opening. Each pedal slowly ... until the beauty and multi-color appeared brilliantly before me. There are no words....I love you Mom. I appreciate all. oxox (And special thoughts and thank you to WAN - the Organization of creative women authors, Poets and Photographers - It is you who gave me this rose bush in honor of Mom. Another blessing - our sisterhood and now..this rose.) The sky has clouds bursting and sunsets worth looking for. The pumpkins are quickly appearing and fun. A happy and special time for children of all ages. The anticipation as each day gets closer to Halloween. It is not just the candy and costumes, it is the season change and just ... the excitement!
Serendipity? Yes - another year.....and Halloween is...Halloween!! On the left is my dear friend, Bette Hornstein. She lives in Benecia in northern California. We met in a lobby in Thailand years ago and were amazed that we were both from the states, and...California... On the right is my newer friend, Bette Hornstein from Los Angeles, California. Bette heard about Bette when someone told her they had seen Bette on television with her decorating. They both have the same name and the September birthday. They are each genuine and so special. Soooo Bette a few years ago drove south and the other Bette drove north and we all met. Taking pictures at a restaurant people thought we were celebrating their brithdays. Oh - we explained we were celebrating that they just met and have the same name. Not? Yes - True....and now years later we just did it again... July 28 was National Dance Day. I wouldn't miss that for the world!
It is the camaraderie with friends and strangers. The beat of the music and the tap of the feet. The song celebrated across the nation was "Crazy" and it is crazy to have so much fun while moving to be healthy. Thank you to amazing Amanda and magical Marisa for enhancing the movement and the moment for so many of us in the Conejo Valley. Exercise is a component in being healthy and being the best we can be. We can't package it - we can encourage it - for all of us to find what is our best way to movement, health and being the best we can be. ;-) It is special to celebrate life and family and happiness!
(Though I do miss my Mom sooooo) This week is Claire Endelman's 90th and the celebration is in full swing. Congratulations to Claire and special love to the entire family... |
