zooming - Somehow new ways are being learned. Whether with family or classes or friends...Zoom is connecting us.
"Online learning" can expand learning and research plus discovery. Even zooming had its challenges until it was / is figured out. Everyone talking at once or silenced or head chopped off. Another learning experience for sure! We actually zoomed a grandchild's wedding. (Still had the excitement and cake cutting and the dance and smiles and celebration.) Even a chance to talk to those on zoom who live across the world. Happiness for the genuine joy of the bride and groom, Kaitlin and Garret. And online pictures of a newborn great-grandchild. Couldn't believe it - Ryan and Megan welcomed adorable baby Layla. Modern times and how we learn to adapt. We did and we are. We can have it all. Being open to possibilities. Whether online learning or reaching for the new and wonder. Days are not wasted ~ They are changing as is new knowledge and curiosity.
No hugs?!! "Distance"
Michael has come to visit and we sit "distanced" across the yard. It is great to see him and share time. He has also been amazing to market for us in times when "the compromised" are not supposed to be out and about. We are not going hungry. We are baking and creating. Have to admit some of this is ~ fun. THANK YOU MICHAEL!!! We are currently in a pandemic ~ Ugh! Who would think in this day and age that this could possibly happen?
So many people are suffering in so many ways. We heard an author today talk of the word "Lifequake" (Bruce Feller) I agree with his philosophy and actually like that word. It seems everyone has something going on that is different. It is six months and life is affected in one way or another. My wish is for us to stay positive. Difficult? Yes - Yet tomorrow is another day and somehow....Tomorrows will find a way of unfolding. Moments with Michael. My "birthday present" was just extra time together. A walk on the beach... Nothing could be better! Another special birthday experience as we went to discover and explore the Broad Museum in downtown Los Angeles. First though we found fresh fruit stands on the corner which made the wait in line easier. We also stood below Angel's Flight - ahh - the memory I reflected on as my grandfather took me there.... Family! The best!! Mom and son ~ We are trying to live up to the tradition of my late Mom and I. There is nothing like it! Ahhh....the memories...I miss you everyday Mom, Miriam Small. You shared and taught me so much. To wander and seek daily adventure ... anywhere Michael and I can go together is meaningful. Even if down the street for a quick latte. This picture was taken among the ruins in Tunisia
When Kaitlin was here for her special weekend! ;-) Santa Monica, Hollywood, + here, there and everywhere together... oxox Jared and Kaitlin came for a unique weekend as together we explored Los Angeles and so many places while they were here. Especialy = Discovering new foods and destinations together. PaPa Dave and all seven grandchildren together!!
Though they somehow are growing so fast.... + The memory of all time was the slumber party = when all were here at one time! Grandparenting The fun and creativity of sharing moments and special times together. Finally now at age nine, this was Catalina's first time staying alone with us for a weekend. It was non-stop (maybe tiring for Dave & I) yet something she will long remember. This picture shows Catalina dressed to the nines for dinner out and the highight of her visit, her first visit to live theatre. Peter Pan This picture needs no words = it is true JOY!!
Dave and I with Michael at the Country Harvest restaurant in Newbury Park, CA.
How gracious of this restaurant to reach out to a family with a young child of serious health problems. 20% of the night went to honor and support dear four-year-old little Gracie. Yes, the food there is always consistent, delicious and a friendly staff... Yet this time it also had an ambiance of people from near and far + of all ages making a difference. When I drove up the streets were filled with cars parked everywhere. When I walked a ways to the restaurant there was a long line and quiet conversation among friends and strangers. All there to support a cause. Dining in and take-out, it was indeed a crowd. Gracie could not attend as she is in Children's Hospital who are doing a job of wonder. When her Grandpa Steve ordered his pot roast they were all sold out. Those though were good words to hear as $1000+ was raised with heartfelt happiness and hope for little Gracie. |
