It is just now a year since my Mom, Miriam Small, passed away. I think about her every day. I truly miss her. We shared so much and a special relationship that I have and always will have to truly appreciate and cherish. I love you Mom. This week I speak publicly in the Conejo Valley on ... Joyful Parenting. This morning I shared with my son, Michael, & this week-end, Dave will join me for walks and special moments...to memorialize and remember...... This is all timely to reflect on my parents and how fortunate my brother, Hal, and I are. My book, JOYFUL PARENTING, shares an entire chapter by Mom. It is entitled, "And in Conclusion-From My Beginning-A Letter From My Mom. oxoxxo Add Comment When:Saturday, September 10 · 1:00pm - 3:30pm Location: 320 Via Las Brisas Newbury Park CA What? ZUMBA! This event is put together by Zumba guru herself, Amanda. Celebrate life with many instructors and zumba enthusiasts. + Proceeds of donations - all go to Autism- the kids and the families. This week I spoke at St. Julies Church in Newbury Park, California. What a wonderful audience. I was thrilled with the reception and their smiles and interaction. In the audience was Janet Roach who volunteered in my classroom at the beginning of my career. Thank you Janet. I applaud your volunteering. How exciting and meaningful to hear your stories and memories that you shared with the audience. Time does go by ~ yet so much we can cherish.... Surfing Summer 2011 08/21/2011

Manhattan Beach, Huntington Beach, and Oceanside. These outstanding California beaches had festivals and body surfing throughout this summer. Dave participated in each and my FB has some pictures I shared. All of the participants, families and observers are the best. The comaraderie! + Each heat was truly unique and interesting. Yesterday was the most amazing. The World Body Surfing Championship held annually in Oceanside, California. The O'Gorman family fascinated all spectators with four generations participating. Mr. O'Gorman, age 87, competed in his heat. We watched as he headed out into the water, confident and with a smile. WOW! Surf's up!!! 07/20/2011

Spending a day on the beach at the San Clemente Bodysurfing Contest on Sunday was just great! The participants were of every age, background, size and experience. It is always so exciting to catch the fever of the surfers and to listen to the cheers as the waves float in and the ocean glistens. Dave has the "fever" and an early 6 a.m. check-in is all part of the experience. I appreciate this as a healthy step of being in the outdoors and keeping in shape. Celebrating life!
