Many of us went to Calamigos in southern California, Santa Monica Mountains, Malibu.
I remember as a child going from the city to the camp in the mountains. We rode in a covered wagon just to get there. we rode horses while there and participated in camp and beach activities.

Now it is a place to go for brunch, wine, cheese, atmosphere, boat ride and nature walk or a special event. Dave took me there recently and I was overjoyed and overwhelmed with the memories.

Since that day, I connected with Grant Gerson, the owner of the ranch. The leader of amazing fellowship experiences which focused on reverance, loyalty, honesty, self-reliance and sportsmanship.

Now 91, Dave and I shared dinner and a remarkable evening with Grant and his wife, Ruth. What a positive attitude, still, and stories I could listen to forever.....

Yes, Brighter Horizons was more than even expected!

I oppened as the morning speaker at California Lutheran University on Joyful Parenting.

Sharing with the audience of parents, & together looking towards bringing out the best in our children is exciting and inspiring for me too.

Brighter Horizons is a time each and every year to enrich young women to be the best they can be.

It is just now a year since my Mom, Miriam Small, passed away.
I think about her every day.

I truly miss her. We shared so much and a special relationship that I have and always will have to truly appreciate and cherish.

I love you Mom.

This week I speak publicly in the Conejo Valley on ... Joyful Parenting.

This morning I shared with my son, Michael, & this week-end, Dave will join me for walks and special moments...to memorialize and remember......

This is all timely to reflect on my parents and how fortunate my brother, Hal, and I are. My book, JOYFUL PARENTING, shares an entire chapter by Mom. It is entitled, "And in Conclusion-From My Beginning-A Letter From My Mom.

This week I spoke at St. Julies Church in Newbury Park, California.
What a wonderful audience.
I was thrilled with the reception and their smiles and interaction.

In the audience was Janet Roach who volunteered in my classroom at the beginning of my career. Thank you Janet. I applaud your volunteering. How exciting and meaningful to hear your stories and memories that you shared with the audience. Time does go by ~ yet so much we can cherish....
